The Houston SPCA Is An Official Chevron Marathon Charity
Get your running shoes in gear and mark your calendars, the 39th Chevron Houston Marathon is scheduled for January 30, 2011. The Houston SPCA is once again truly grateful to be an official charity of the 2010-2011 Run For a Reason program. Last year alone, the Run for a Reason program generated a record-setting $1.8 million dollars for 46 non-profit organizations. The Houston SPCA is a private, non-profit charity which receives no funding from the government, United Way or national animal groups. Our hope as an official charity of this outstanding program is to raise funds which will allow us to continue to support our life saving programs.
In 2009, the Houston SPCA provided services for over 100,000 animals in need, drove more than161,000 miles protecting the innocent and investigated over 15,000 cases of abuse, cruelty and neglect. Beginning Tuesday, July 27th at 6:00am, the Houston SPCA invites you to visit our website at www.houstonspca.org to sign up and begin fundraising opportunities to benefit the animals of the Houston SPCA. A limited number of guaranteed race entries are available through the “Heroes” charity registration.
This program enables runners to make a direct tax-deductible donation of a least $350 to the charity of their choice, plus the cost of registration, to secure a guaranteed race entry. Runners can also “fundraise for registration” which requires no up-front, out-of-pocket expense. The deadline to turn in all fundraising information is November 15, 2010.
We thank you in advance for your generous support. We hope to see you in person on September 16th at the Kick-Off Party at Memorial Park. In addition, if you or your company is interested in becoming our Official Sidewalk Sponsor, please contact us at 713.869.7722 ext. 138.
